Mallards Mania!

went to the mallards game tonight - i don't know why i try going to baseball games, it's not like i ever really watch them. however, we did have a good time. bought cheap tickets for $5, tailgated and had some hotdogs and beers, plus got a jumbo beer at the game :)

luckily i made it home pretty early tonight, since i cannot handle staying out past midnight more than one night a week. and i cannot believe it's already the fourth. this will be a pretty low key weekend for me. my excitement (which i'm pumped about) consists of me signing my new lease that starts in august.... I WANT TO START PACKING NOW!!!! i know i can't, but by the 15th i will definitely have boxes packed and ready to go even though i cannot move in til the 1st of August.

got any fun plans? besides my lease signing, my goal is to lay out and get a tan... i really dont have one, and it's sad!

darts

dart... i love darts... so much fun!!! went to mark croft tonight, then afterwards mosied on over to the Angellic to hang with friends. we decided to play darts, and boy did we have a blast. i would like to say that i'm oddly good at darts, but only after my first game. the first game i do horribly, and everyone is like, why is she my partner. but then i step it up and rock it! second game me and luke were down by like 100 in points, but only had bullseyes left - we came back and WON it... yup that's right folks. we hit like 6 bullseyes (after i had already hit two)... amazing! (i hit 4 of the 6 we needed to win) we then had to play a "bubble" match since we lost the first and won the second game. and let me tell you, i was on fire! i hit the last two bullseyes to win the match! i rock!!!

man i love darts :)

(and no i am not drunk - slightly buzzed thanks to those blue uv and lemonades, but by no means drunk... i just really love darts! and boy am i gonna be tired in the morning, because i definitely need to be up in less than 6 hours to get ready for work :/ )

coldstone

Jason is back from vacation (three weeks away) just to leave again for work :( We did get to enjoy a delicious meal of chicken fettucine alfredo, with Cold Stone Creamery for dessert. I got PEANUT BUTTER CUP PERFECTION.... there's still half of it in my freezer. Soooo good!!!! It has chocolate ice cream, with real peanut butter, fudge and REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!!! Nummy! I totally recommend it :)

What's your favorite ice cream indulgence??

PS Mark Croft at Cafe Montemarte tomorrow night - YAY

AND JOHN MAYER IS GOING ON TOUR WITH SHERYL CROW.... CONCERT IN CHICAGO ON SEPTEMBER 9TH... I CANNOT WAIT - it's been over two years since I saw him last. I miss him soooo much.

PLUM-tastic

For the last two nights I gave up TV and decided to read - there was nothing good on so I pulled out one of the books I have stashed away. Usually I go for Harry Potter, but I just reread them, so I decided to go a different route. One of my other favorite series is Janet Evanovich's series about Stephanie Plum. SUPER HILARIOUS! I was literally laughing out loud in bed while I was reading. So now, here's the part that makes me strange - I read TWO books in TWO nights!!! I finished Ten Big Ones Tuesday night and Eleven on Top last night. This just makes me nutt-o! I mean, I love reading, but I didn't get much sleep Monday night and I thought the reading would help put me to sleep, but I get so involved in my books that I ended up staying up til 11:30 Tuesday night and 12:30 last night. Guess reading doesn't make me tired.

But I ventured to Borders today and picked up Twelve Sharp and then The Devil Wears Prada since the movie is coming out soon and I haven't read it yet. This will be the last of my book buying for a while. I scanned the shelves and Borders, and am now going to utilize my library card. I would've waited for these two books through the library, but I wanted them now. Once I start reading I tend to go through withdrawls.

Can you say geek, or what?

Got any good suggestions for some summer reading? I like to take my books to the Terrace and tan, so I need some ideas to keep me entertained (I cannot read any Harry Potter books this summer - twice in one summer is just too much!)

DELICIOUS (:

So I haven't gone grocery shopping in a really REEEAAALLLYYY long time (ie almost a month - I just pick up random stuff here and there, but haven't actually bought real FOOD) This goes to show how unmotivated and how much of a loser I really am. I've been living off of Milios, Ian's, Noodles, and other fast food joints. Not the healthiest lifestyle, but I'm lazy. Today I picked up lunch for me and Chrissy (awesome girl who I work with!) and I decided I wanted that new Chicken-Mashed Potato-Gravy-Corn-Cheese bowl from KFC. Let me tell you, for that $4 I WAS STUFFED!!!! It was sooo good. I love breaded chicken and mashed potatoes. I got mine without gravy cuz I don't really ride the gravy-train (ha ha ha) and it was GOOD! I totally recommend it. It looks little, but boy is it filling.

And yes, I know I haven't been updating as often as the rest of you bloggers, but my life is boring. BOR-ING! My excited for the week was Ten Things I Hate About You at the Terrace Monday night. It was a lot of fun, and we headed off to Brats for the Monday night drink special and to see my bud James (who is a bartender - the best kind of friends ;) ) Anywho, the drink special rocks! It's called "The Beer Exchange" and it works like Economics/Suppy and Demand. Beers start out at their normal price, and every fifteen-twenty minutes the prices change based on the suppy and demand of it. The more Miller Lite that is bought, the more expensive it gets. The other, more expensive beers, then become cheaper. It rocks. We got Spotted Cow for $2, and some PBR for $1.20. Now I know PBR is not glamous, but it was only ONE TWENTY!! Here in Madison, we spend over $3 for beer. It's crazy!

What is your favorite drink special in your town?? You can tell I'm just out of college cuz I can tell you the drink specials for every night of the week (the cheapest time to go out, but the hardest to do cuz of work the next morning)

Me & Vienna Voo

So here is a condensed version of my pages. I don't have the patience tonight to try to figure out the 'stitch' mechanism in Paint. Luckily you can tell what most of it looks like without the leftmost section. The blue band on the left says "me &" on the part you cannot see, and the heading is 'here kitty' (if you couldn't tell). The bottom page is pretty much just that. I'm not sure if the other pads of the paws need something or if it looks good the way it is. I never know if it should stay simple or could use a little kick. I don't own embellishments or anything like that, so my pages are pretty low-key at the moment. Guess I'll need to drop some more money for some more supplies. But I think I have to wait til I have places to STORE my scrapping supplies. Right now it's stacked up on love seat. Pathetic!"Cat's don't have to be put on pedestals - they put themselves there."

What do you think? I need some good constructive criticism to get me as fabulous as the rest of you crazy scrappers out there!!

Argh

So after three days of on-and-off work, I finished (almost!) my first scrapbook pages. I figured out my scanner, sortof and got them all scanned in. However, once I accept the scan, it disappears and I have no idea where it is saved!!! I read part of the owner's manual, plus checked out the HP Help in the Scanner program, but it was worthless!!! GRRRR. How can I share my pages?!?! I do not know :( And I need help for ideas to finish it. I feel it needs something else, but I am unsure of what to use. Man!

I'll give it a rest and try again later.

What a classic...

So it was movie night at the Terrace tonight. Such a nice treat after a crazy hectic day at work, and a great way to really start summer off. Tonight's showing was Jurassic Park. I actually saw this movie in the theater, back in 1993. Now, let me put this in perspective for you; I was TEN when this movie came out. I was in fourth or fifth grade. AND MY PARENTS LET ME SEE THIS IN THE THEATERS!!! I did not remember much from seeing this movie (I think I only saw it then, and then parts on TV) and now I know why - I had to have been traumatized and blocked those images from my mind. I mean, seriously. We had a lot of fun with it tonight, but there were definitely scenes that would have scarred me if I was only ten. Mostly the scenes of Jeff Goldblume lying propped up on his elbow with his shirt open and his hairy chest all glistening and sweaty (not to mention the curly half-mullet he was sporting). I mean, seriously... was he trying to be Fabio or something? By the way, I could have swore Jeff Goldblume was the one to die on the toilet - it's amazing at what your mind remembers. I knew Goldblume was in the movie, and I knew a guy died on the toilet - guess my mind decided it had to of been him. (it was really the money hungry lawyer for all of you wondering who it was... and those of you who actually remember that, bravo! only one from our clan did)

All in all a funtastic movie. Pet Peeve - people who pull up chairs in front of our prime spot. We had front row center at the Terrace (as we always do cuz I'm crazy psycho and show up super early) and then these people just decide that our spot is a good spot and pull up chairs right in front of us before the movie starts, with their big heads blocking our view. Unfortunately we didn't see them pulling up chairs, for if I had, I would have definitely put up a big old stink (and have them calling me a bitch under their breath as they walk away) If you want awesome seats, don't show up at 8:15 and expect to find some. Seriously now people!

yeah yeah....

Ok, so I know I suck at this whole posting often thing - but I don't always have cool things to talk about. Like this weekend, this is what I did: SLEPT A LOT!! I went to Mark Croft & Bascom Hill concert Thursday night and was out til ONE AM!!!! With work at 8am the next morning, I was just wiped out. Therefore, Friday night I was in bed by 10:30, and slept TWELVE HOURS!!! Yes, you read that right! Then Saturday I went and looked at an apartment, then spent waaaaay too much money at Hobby Lobby. My new hobby now that I'm in the real world is going to be scrapping/cardmaking (would you expect anything different from Ang's cousin??) and Hobby Lobby had 50% off cardstock and rubber stamps and ink pads. So I stocked up. I mean, how can you be creative without having a stock of things to be creative with? I can tell already that this is going to be an addiction. I actually tried scrapping a page today, but have found I don't have that much stuff even after my excersion. I'm waiting impatiently for my graduation gift from Ang (I know there'll be lots of goodies in there for me to use for my hobby - we just need to find time to see each other so we can SCRAP!) Yeah, so Saturday was another early night filled with Harry Potter 6 and then bed by 11. Yes, I am an official loser. Very sad.

But I'm trying to redeem myself a bit, and will be hanging out with friends tomorrow. It's Movie Night at the Terrace - first one of the summer. I'm really excited because we're headed over early for a rousing game of Scattegories (I'm a crazy person when it comes to playing games - something also from the Olson side of the family!) and then it's Jurassic Park. I haven't seen this movie since I was in middle school when I saw it in the theater. The one thing I remember (besides Jeff Goldblume being eaten on the porta-potty) is the huge Gobstopper that I got for the movie. Ginormous Gobstoppers were so the thing back when I was in middle school, and I had a huge purple one for-ever! I think I ended up just throwing it away, it got so grody from being handled and licked and left lying around the house. Yeah, I was a sanitary child.

Ok, this girl is going to bed - I was shockingly dead on my feet for work on Friday (I used to be able to stay out all night and be up early the next day and be on my toes, but not so much anymore... it's crazy how fast you lose that ability), and I need to be able to function tomorrow so I can have a productive day.

So, since my post had nothing to really comment about, we'll throw in a question (because without comments, it's hard to keep blogging :b) What's your favorite board game - we need ideas for games for a group of 5+ that can be played outside... we've definitely done large games of Scrabble (I have found competition in James - it's brutal!) but it's difficult to have an amazingly high scoring game with so many people.

fish and frights

So today was Jason's birthday....6-6-06 (what a lucky boy :b - at least his name isn't Damien) I took him out for Fish Fry (yup on a Tuesday) at a restaurant called "Joey's Seafood and Grill," and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! Ok, so this fish fry was ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT, and normally places bring out dinky plates with small portions of food, where most people don't ask for seconds. Well, at Joey's, we got four HUGE deep fried pieces of fish on top of a large plate of fries. I was so hungry I ate three. For dessert, we had apple crisp. Delicious as well :) I was very impressed with this new restaurant... definitely a place to try if you're a seafood fan (ie you like Red Lobster - it's better, but there's no biscuits)

Anyways, after the super filling dinner, we went to a movie. And what better movie to go to today than the remake of
THE OMEN. I'm not a huge fan of scary movies (and let me tell you, I'll probably have nightmares tonight), but it was very well done, kept everyone's attention, and definitely threw in scares unexpectedly. And it wasn't super gorey, which was also appealing to me, because all that blood and guts makes me want to vomit (but what is a scary movie without some blood). But now, whenever I close my eyes, I see that damn Damien. I think it might have successfully scarred me like The Ring did... yup I can still picture that stupid little girl crawling out of the tv.... and the clip in the movie of that tree - there's one on the way to my friend's house back home, and everytime I see it (specially when the sun is setting) I still get the willies...

Do you have any movies that random things remind you of them, and you still get the chills?

I might not even be able to watch HP3 without getting a bit freaked because Professor Lupin is also a character in THE OMEN. Grrr! Now onto reading HP6 to get my mind off that movie... might even be sleeping with the lights on!

OHHH what a weekend (:

The Hurtgens came to visit this weekend, and we all went to the Brewer's game at Miller Park. We got the tickets super cheap through DBall's work, and we also got free food and $1 beers tailgating. And to make the day even better, it was DAMIAN MILLER BOBBLE HEAD DAY!! (check out Sara being all excited for her bobblehead)
Unfortunately the Brewer's lost by 1, but the game was fun nonetheless.

Dustin's brother Darrin is HILARIOUS!! He definitely kept us laughing all day long. Sara and I stopped off at Hobby Lobby before the game, with the boys going over to the Family Dollar to keep from being bored at HL. We meet up with them to find Darrin bought a bunch of "snacks" for us on the drive, spending less than $10. He was loaded up with Slim Jims, Laffy Taffy, and Funyons (on sale for 25 cents - what a deal!) He also bought this Stink Doll. I had never heard of it before, but he seemed to have fun with it. Unfortuntaely, it lived up to its name, and boy was it bad (but as you can tell, Darrin liked it)

Today was another fun day, but more chill than busy. After the Hurtgen's left, Jason and I went mini-golfing. Now I am not a golfer at all, but I think I put up a pretty go
od fight (thankfully Jason is no putter himself) I lost by a lot, but one hole just gave me grief, and J nailed it. (sorry no pics from minigolfing)

This evening I mosied on over to the Terrace to read some HP6 (again); I stayed for a little over an hour (got a nice tan forming) and decided to take the long way home. I walked up State St to the Capitol on this beautiful Sunday afternoon and got some cute pictures. First off, Madison is an artsy town, but I can't understand how they justify spending the money on some of the stuff they do. Yeah the cows are cute, but seriously... think of how much money was spent on them and what could have been done instead. And these cows are all over the place - from Library Mall all the way to the Capitol. Craziness!!

And now a shoutout to Vienna, who turned one yesterday. I'm such a crappy owner - I wasn't home at all due to the baseball festivities. But fortunately she doesn't hold it against me... she's snuggling up on my lap as I type (:

Hope everyone else had a great weekend - I know Ang and Barb did!

Slut's Supper Club

So me and my sluts have decided to get together the first Thursday of every month and try out a new restaurant. Since today is the first Thursday of June, we got together for dinner. Before I go on, I should explain who "the sluts" are. They are my college friends, three of which have been roommates, with a few other honorary members throughout the years. Just because we call ourselves sluts doesn't necessarily mean we are - so don't go getting the wrong idea!! It's just what we call ourselves... we even have "slut names" :) From the left: Double Dees, J-Dogg, K-Money, Lube, and T-Bone (ie Me!) What a gang....

Anyways - we tried a brand new restaurant on the Capitol Loop - "Old Fashioned." I did not try an Old Fashion, but Lube did (and liked it). This restaurant had an extensive liquor list, and an equally delicious menu. I started with an order of cheese curds (super greasy and NUMMY!!) My next (and last) course was a burger and fries, and it was good. Probably not the best burger I ever had, but it was good nonetheless. Check out the site, check out the menu, and next time you're in town, try it for yourself!

Keep your eyes peeled for new restaurants I've visited... and any Madison natives, let me know of any restaurants, and maybe it'll make my list. I'm not a very diverse person, and I tend to go to the same places, so there are plenty of restaurants out there waiting for me to give them a test run!

(and sorry no pictures - too busy devouring my food)
