Great New Talent... Right Across the Hall
Mark Croft is the hottest thing to hit Madison since Bascom Hill :) He won the Best New Artist and Best Male Vocalist Awards at Madison Area Music Awards Show and had a whole article written about him in one of the music magazines here... and the best part, HE LIVES ACROSS THE HALL FROM ME!!!Very random how I came to know about him - I had a few friends over for a night of drinking games (lots of fun) and when we decided to head out to the bars, we heard someone playing guitar across the hall. I had heard the music before, but never really thought anything of it. Well, in the drunken state we were in, my friend knocked on the door, and we all ended up going in to hear him play. He did an excellent job, and even played some Jack Johnson to appease Brit (who is in love with Jack like I'm in love with John) Anywho, he played some of his own stuff too, and ROCKED!!! We have not had a chance to go see him play in concert yet (due to being busy finishing up with school) but he plays every Tuesday night at Cafe Montmartre (never been there) so I'm waiting impatiently to graduate to check him out. Plus, I found out he's playing at the Great Dane with BASCOM HILL in June... I'm really excited about that!! Check out where he'll be, cuz he does tour outside of WI (I see he'll be in GB in December) Check out his music, which can also be purchased on iTunes!

Nickelodeon Rocks!!!
Nickelodeon has some awesome cartoons... maybe not so much anymore, but when I was younger, it was my favorite channel to watch! Which brings me to Doug Funny. I randomly thought of him today, and had to blog about it. He was the awkward kid that was head over heels in love with Patty Mayonnaise...he was even lucky enough to get his own movie! Then he moved to Disney, and it just wasn't the same.
Nickelodeon brought me a bunch of other cool shows as well: Clarissa Explains it all; You Can't Do That on Television; and Rocko's Modern Life... Man Rocko was kickass... The one episode I remember was when his toilet was clogged, and lo and behold it was his pet goldfish that he had flushed - he had thought he was dead, but nope, just taking a nap, and he grew to a ginormous size and was living in the pipes... HILARIOUS! You can't get much better than that! What have cartoons come to today??
What obsure shows do you miss?
The Wedding
Sara and Dusty's wedding was beautiful... I don't think they could've asked for a better day. Everything seemed to go smoothly, no big problems at all. The only sad thing is I did not get a picture of just me and my sister... how that happened I do not know, but it makes me sad. There should be some good ones of me, Sara, and Tony though, so at least there are some of us together. Since I do not have a camera, I do not have many pictures from that day; so Ang, if you got some, send them my way :) Here's a pic of Sara and my cousins getting a bit tipsy in the tub of Sara & Dusty's suite. Very adorable pic (but don't worry, those bottles are closed) We all had a great time at the rehearsal dinner, as well as the wedding and reception. It was great to see the family (both sides)... don't get to see much of them while living in Madison. Now it's back to reality and school - three weeks left!!!
Bascom Hill
Yes, Bascom Hill is the crazy steep hill here on campus, but that is not what this blog is about (I am in Grainger High now, so I never have to trek it anymore, therefore I have nothing to complain about)... There is a band on campus named Bascom Hill (formerly known as Tasty Won-Ton). They ROCK!! They're based out of Madison, and put of one of the most fun concerts ever! I heard that recently there was an interview about them in one of the Fox Valley papers (not sure which one). Anyways, I've been to about four of their concerts now, and can't wait to go back. Check them out HERE Check out their music, as well as concert dates (maybe they'll be near you soon!)
only 2 left....
Man, I did the BH crossword puzzle today, and I only have TWO boxes left to fill!!! How awesome is that! I would totally scan it in for you, but I have not yet figured out my scanner... I thought it would just work if I hit the scan button, but obviously that would be too easy, so I have to find the disk and see what I can do. My goal has always been to completely finish one of the paper crossword puzzles... I've been close, but have never succeeded :( I guess I'll just have to keep using my classtime to figure it out :)
The clues that stumped me:
6 Across - Little Orphan Annie character (with 'The') - Three letters AS?
24 Across - Canonical hour - Four letters *ONE
8 Down - Eucharist plate - Five letters ?ATE*
So CLOSE!!!!
Chronicles of Narnia
So I watched 'Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe' tonight.... I read this book in 5th grade (a super long time ago) but I didn't remember any of it at all. The only thing I remember was my class project where I made a scene from the book carved out of Ivory soap (yeah I was cool, and smelled like Ivory for a week!) After watching the movie, I am shocked they let us read this book at such a young age. There was a lot more fighting than I remember (oh wait, I didn't remember any of it) I thought the movie was great, but this book could be traumatizing for little kids (I mean, in 5th grade I was what, 11) And also, I know this is the 3rd out of a series of 7, and I haven't read any of the other ones, but I really can't figure out what else this series could hold. There was a real beginning and ending to this book, no cliff-hangers, no needing to know information before to know what's going on. What else could be held within these other 6 books... are the kids a part of them, or is it another set of kids? Is there more than one war, or does peace stay in Narnia? I just can't fathom what the other books hold.... I guess I know what I'm reading this summer, besides the HP books again ;)
9 days and counting...
SaraBeth and DBall will be married in 9 days... how crazy is this!??! I cannot believe that it's this close already. DBall will be a great addition to the family.... he's easily whipped ;) And he's a drinker :) The first time DBall met my mother, they got plastered and made 'leaf angels' when they got back to the house. Sara and Dusty came down to Madison to visit me, and we went down to Brats, had 4 or 5 LunchBoxes (one potent shot I have not been able to endure since... and I only remember taking one from that night) ... Both sides of my family can hold their liquor, so it's a good thing DBall can too! Now all we have to do is get him to change his last name and then he'd really be an Olson :)
First comes love, then comes the marriage.... just wondering how long til I'm an aunt :)
this is me....
So this is my first post... we'll see if I like this whole blogging thing. I *heart* Ang's blog, cuz it's so much fun to comment on (we play well off of each other), however, I'm not sure if I am interesting enough to have my own blog.
So this is a pic of me and my kitty Vienna. She's so much fun, and very lovable (: So I'm not really a cat person at all, but living in a small apartment and having a somewhat busy life, I am not able to care for a dog the way dogs should be. So I got a kitten, and I love it! I might be a cat-person after all. I do want a dog someday, but I don't think Vienna would go for it. She's kind of prissy, but that might be because I'm kind of prissy as well. She's definitely the "I'll cuddle with you, but on my terms" kind of cat; kind of sucks when I want a snuggle buddy, but hey, it happens. I am kind of a snuggle on my own terms type of person, I'm just open to doing it more often than she is.
I've decided to be a successful blogger, I am going to have to reinvest in a digital camera. Mine got stolen New Years Eve Eve, which sucked, but soon I will be a fulltime worker, so I should be able to afford one (or get one for graduation) I need a camera, so I could take a pic of the sweetest package - I don't get to go home for Easter this year due to too much stuff going on (first Easter not at home from college) so my mom sent me my Easter basket with a bunch of goodies. I was super excited when I got it!!! My mom rocks!
Ok that's all for the first blog. Give me some good comments to get me to keep this up (:
