Football Frenzy

As I'm sure you read in Ang's blog, it was fantasy football draft tonight - so much fun. I am very pleased with my team, even though I don't know who half the people are. I mean, seriously now, I have Brett Favre... how can I lose?? He's going to be the backup, so don't worry, I'm not completely off my rocker. However, it's Wisconsin law to have a Packer on your fantasy team, so why not choose one of the best quarterbacks ever???

In other news - tomorrow is the first day of working out with Tara. It shall be interesting. Tomorrow and Friday we're going to get a feel of what we want to do, and then next week we're working out 4 times a week, and I might even try yoga! I've never done yoga before, and I'm soooo not flexible, so we'll see if I try it, or like it. Maybe I'll test it out at home with some beginner DVDs from Blockbuster or something. I'm hoping that exercise will help get me out of my over-worked funk that I'm in. After work all I want to do is veg, because there is just so much going on at work my mind doesn't want to have to function any more. One of the reasons I'm barely blogging these days is I hate staring at computer screens! I sit in front of one for 8+ hours a day, five days a week. And mine at work isn't the best, so programs run slow, and I'm stuck working on something for 45 minutes when it should take me 20. UGH!!!

Ok, enough bitching tonight. 8 days til Regular Season Football. I am going to DOMINATE :)

** Update** My fantasy football team has THREE Badger alum on it. Man, am I full of Wisconsin Pride or what!?!? And Badgers first game in on Saturday - HURRAY!!

Shopaholic

... yeah I'm a girl... I like to shop. But not the traditional shopping that people think of girls doing. I don't go buy tons of shoes or purses or clothes in general. My kryptonite is groceries.

I always grab a basket when I go grocery shopping, thinking that I won't buy as much cuz I have to carry it by hand. Not the case at all. I tend to have the basket overflowing, plus carrying random other stuff in my hands because there is no room left in the basket. People look at me, and I've had some actually come up to me and tell me that I probably should get a cart. Carts = way too large of grocery bills. At least baskets help control it somewhat. I still manage to pack in enough stuff to end up spending way more than I expected. Man I love grocery shopping :)

What is your shopping downfall?

Back to School

Ok, so not really, but kind of... I have recently purchased study materials for the CPA, and if I stick to the recommended study guide for an "average" test taker, I will be studying TWENTY (yup 20) hours a week for TWENTY plus weeks!!! EEEKKK!! I'll be studying just as much as when I was crazy and a Biochem major :b

Brit is going to start studying for the GRE, so I will have a study buddy for two nights a week. I think I'll be able to do it. I used to spend HOURS upon HOURS at the library back in the days of sophomore and junior year of college. I have this crazy ability to sit and study for long periods of time. Hopefully I can get those skills back since I haven't had to study that much since I ended up in the business school. I've decided to give myself Thursday nights off from studying, since that's the night Grey's Anatomy will be on (yeah, way to schedule studying around TV) I don't have DVR yet (stupid Charter - don't get me started) so I figure I can rearrange some study time so I can watch Grey's when it is first on. Besides, who would want to watch it after the original air time - someone is bound to ruin it for me and spill what happens.

The studying madness begins Sunday - wish me luck.

Why Everyone Should Have Renter's Insurance!

So last night I go to bed around 11. Fall asleep. Deep in REM mode. Suddenly I'm awaken by pounding on my door and the doorbell ringing. At first I'm disoriented, thinking that maybe it was Jason forgetting his key or something, but then it dawned on me that he's out of town working. So I pull myself out of bed and make it downstairs to see what the commotion is all about. There's a police officer standing at the door.... "You're neighbors' apartment is on fire. Please evacuate your apartment."

YIKES!!!

So I run back inside to find Vienna. I get her all packed up and we head outside (mind you I don't grab my keys, my purse, anything... the only thing I was worried about was the cat)

I get outside, and what do I see.... outside in the driveway the neighbors' car is on fire. Not a small fire.... the front of the car has flames shooting up to the eave of the garage. Not cool (but sort of). Thank God the police officer had exaggerated a bit when he told me the neighbor's apartment was on fire - if that car had been in the garage, there'd probably be a whole lot more damage!!

Here's a pic of what the car looks like today:

I live in an apartment that's more like a townhouse - they are eight unit buildings (4 upper, 4 lower) and there are garages that are attached. If this fire had been inside... man I don't want to think about it. Just glad I have renter's insurance!!!

Oh yeah, and this was at 3:30 AM!!! We didn't get to go back into our apartments until 4:15, and I got to wake up and go to work by 8. Fun times!

Potourri

... No folk, this post isn't about those lovely dried up flowers that make a house smell all pretty... this post is going to be a hodgepodge of this and that since I've been MIA for quite some time now. (And I'm a Jeopardy! fan, and this is always a category, so I had to use it here :) )

Let's see. I was right about Keith being kicked off Project Runway - can't say I'm that sad to see him go.

Headbangers Ball in a few days - YAY!!! Plus, I finally dislodged the CD from my car stereo, so I can listen to other things besides the radio, which isn't ever that good anyways. MY OUTFIT IS COMPLETE!!!! Yippeee!!! :) I have these ruby red Mary Janes to wear with some cute leggings, super short skirt, and a fab tank/tshirt combo (I still need to rip up the shirt, but that shouldn't take too long) Don't want to show pics of the individual pieces yet; you'll just have to wait for all the fab photos from this weekend. I just cannot wait!!!

Work has been crazy hectic lately; two girls recently quit, and now some of that work is getting put on me, since there hasn't been any new hires yet. This means I'm super busy, doing their stuff on top of mine... YIKES!! The sad thing is I am able to do a good chunk of their work in like 2-3 hours in a day, which means what the hell were we paying them for, cuz they barely did anything!!! (In case you cannot tell, I am not sad to see them leave either) These girls would come in to work after me, take 1.5-2 hour lunches, and then sometimes leave BEFORE me! Can you believe it?!?! And they never, EVER, got in trouble. Now don't get me wrong, I love how my job is pretty flexible and if I need to be in a late one day it is ok (like tomorrow, where I get to spend my morning at the DMV). However, there needs to be some restrictions. Luckily the employees who are dragging us down are almost all out of our company, and we can finally start moving forward and be a more efficient and effective company!

Phew... ok sorry about my work rant. Let's see... sort of work related - I'm in search of good practice materials for the CPA, which I am planning on starting my studies for in September, and hopefully starting to take the exam in January. Yikes!! I figure I better get off my bum and start working towards the CPA now instead of later. I gave myself the summer off, and now with things finally winding down, I can settle in and study my butt off. If you have any suggestions for study materials, that'd be fantastic. I do not do the whole class/group study thing, so I really hope to find some good books to guide me to kicking CPA butt!

Yup, I think that's all for now... I promise I'll post sooner than a week from now!
