Cool News

I got me some cool news - we are in the process of hiring me an assistant!! How fabulous is that?? Work has been crazy hectic, and I've been doing two jobs, plus I'm still doing remedial work that I did when I worked there part time and still in college... so it's time to get me some help. They will technically be an assistant in the accounting department, but since that is me and my boss, it's like I get an assistant :) YAY ME!! I'll get to move on to bigger things like financial statements, and all that fun stuff.

In other news - this is my 50th post. It'd probably be a lot higher if I actually posted more often than what I do (obviously) but it's still fun!

Halloween is coming up - and I will not be attending the craziness downtown (weird, I know). I've decided to host a movie night Friday night at my place, with Curious George and stove-top popcorn (among other movies and snacks) Saturday night I'm going to a nice small-town bar in McFarland with my buddy Tara. It's so much fun - very country, just like me. And to top things off, I am going to be a cowgirl. I am borrowing a cool belt buckle from my dad, and I found a cute buttondown shirt that looks just like one my dad would wear, but in my size :) I love Halloween and hope to have a blast.

What are your plans for the Halloween weekend?

Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza

Today I had a pumpkin carving party at my apartment! I love autumn, and today was a perfect day to sit outside and scoop the guts out of pumpkins and cut faces into them. I love doing things from childhood that as you grow up you don't do as much (like dying Easter eggs and jumping in piles of leaves).

Here's what we created:

And also, I would like to say I'm blogging from my fabulous new laptop, which I purchased yesterday. I absolutely love it... specially the fact that I can now blog from that fabulous red furniture I own :) Yay!!!

FIVE YEARS

So, this past weekend was my five year high school reunion. For some you're like, wow she's young, but let me tell you, I'm feeling a bit old right now. My friends and I are turning 24 this year... that means we're in our mid-twenties, not our early twenties!! When did that happen? Real life is here to smack us around!

Anyways, it's amazing how people change, yet stay the same. They have different hair, different boys/girls they are dating/married/divorcing (yes some of my classmates are already getting divorces).... some are skinnier, some are fatter... but all in all, they are still clique-y just like always. It's amazing at how you put all the people from high school in a room, and groups automatically form. I mean, seriously, we aren't allowed to hang out with other groups? We have to stay with the cool crowd, or the dorky crowd, or the stoner crowd, cuz that's where we fit in when we were in high school? Luckily in high school I was a "floater," where I could float from crowd to crowd and generally get along with everyone and people didn't look at me like I was nuts for talking to them (they might've looked at me like I was nuts when I talked to other groups, but not to their group) So all in all, as a floater, I had a blast at the reunion (minus the clique-iness). I danced my ass off, and it was great. And I'm not talking trashy, ghetto-thug dancing, I'm talking down-home country-fied dancing. Sooo much fun!! I was twirled around so much I had to sit down/go outside multiple times due to all the spinning (which the alcohol might've had something to do with as well)

Fortunately, there were no bar fights (which are common in small towns), but there was plenty of gossip and drama. Those clique-y people still know how to blow things up into craziness. And it's amazing at how easily one gets sucked right back into it. I didn't feel like I had graduated college and working/living in Madison. I felt like I was at a high school gathering, and everyone was judging my (and everyone else's) every move. I am usually pretty good about not caring what other people think (especially those from home that don't even really know me anymore) but man, like I said, you just get sucked right back in. It's amazing at how I can grow up so much, but still revert back to that time... well, minus the whole drinking part... I was a "good" kid in high school and never really drank. But once college came around, I put on my Olson drinking shoes and slammed one down with the rest of them. And for the record, no I did not fall and cut open my chin.... the guys at work made sure to point out that I was better than the Green Bay trip since I didn't end up in the emergency room the next day.

Anywho, I took like one pic at the reunion, and that's of me and one of my best friends Dan. He's just as blunt and straightforward as I am... you'd think we'd hate each other, but we don't.
Ok, it's officially freezing in my apartment (just turned the heat on tonight considering it was snowing outside... hasn't quite got super warm yet) so it's time to snuggle up under the blanket and get ready for PR3 Season Finale part 1.

Thrift Saling

Thrift saling is one of my favorite things to do during the summer. I don't do it often enough, but buying things for a less than $5 is the best, and soooo much fun. The best buys at thrift sales are usually baby clothes, so it's always fun when a friend/relative has a little one of the way cuz you can stock them up on the cutest outfits ever. My favorite finds for me are cute printed tops, ones with fun sayings, or else sports tshirts with numbers on the back. My all time fave shirt is a navy blue "Maple Grove Soccer" tshirt with #9 on the back. I bought it at Savers (the next best thing to a thrift sale) LOVE IT!

Anyways, I am discussing thrift sales because my family is having one this weekend. I'm venturing up to Hickville, WI and having a thrift sale with the rest of the town. They always have one the weekend of Prom and the weekend of Homecoming.... this weekend just happens to be Homecoming. I hear our football team is really good - they won 81-0 the other weekend - Crazy! I'm excited to make some money on the clothes that I never wear anymore (and probably paid too much for them in the first place). Isn't it crazy how you see something you just have to buy, but can never find the right time to wear it. Every time I clean out my closet for things like this, I find myself having a hard time parting with things I hardly wear. What's up with that? I kid myself I might wear it again, soon, but that never happens, and then I end up with shirts in my closet that are from my senior year of high school....

Which leads me to what else I'm doing this weekend - It's my FIVE YEAR CLASS REUNION! When in the world did I get so old.... yet it seems like high school was soooo long ago. Craziness. So it shall be a fun filled weekend with selling my old clothes and drinking with kids I never get to see anymore.
